SYNOPSIS
iC2 is a Company Limited by guarantee with charitable objectives set up to raise awareness of the impact West African/African culture and traditions has had on the development of London and Southwark infrastructures. Population wise, Africans make up the largest ethnic group in Southwark, 16.1% to be precise according to the last population census in 2001, and the single largest concentration of West Africans in the UK. ic2 aims to promote this by organising events that raise awareness and promotes West-African cultural practices and heritage.

A successful pilot exhibition was held in May 2005. The Mayor of Southwark and other Councillors attended the event.
Following this success, further exhibitions and other partnership events has been held since 2005 to further promote Black and African history and culture in the UK.
Exhibitions held since 2005 includes:
*Extended exhibition of 'West African History /Culture' in October 2005 to celebrate black history month.
* 'Culture of Football' exhibition in April 2006, to celebrate the World Cup tournament held in Germany. The exhibition highlights the history and contributions of West African Footballers in the premiership.
*October 2006, partnership event promoted by Southwark Council in conjunction with other organisations to celebrate black history month at Peckham square.
* April 28th 2007, 'Culture of Slavery Exhibition', The exhibition commemorates the 200th anniversary of act abolishing slavery.
* October 25th-27th 2007- 'Slaves of Rapparee Exhibition'. The true story of the discovery of bones in 1997 believed to be from the wreck of a slave ship 'London' which sank in 1796 at Rapparee cove near Ilfracombe, North Devon.
* October 2008: We supported CAS (Community Action Southwark) in their Black History Month event, while we put up our own BHM exhibition a week later on the 25th Oct. 2008.

* In 2009 ic2 youth team shall be developing activities that promotes a mixture of African and European youth culture in an affort to catch them young to encourage ethnic minority youths to identify with their heritage
