CULTURE  SOCIETY AND INTERACTION.

According to Haralambos, a newly born child is helpless. Not only is it physically dependent on older members of the species but it also lacks the behavior patterns necessary for living in human society. It relies primarily on certain biological drives such as hunger and the charity of its elders to satisfy those drives.  In order to survive, it must learn the skills, knowledge, and accepted ways of behavior of the society into which it is born. It must learn a way of life; in sociological terminology it must learn the culture of its society.   *  *

In recent decades, there has been increased migration into the UK from Africa and the Caribbean. This migration pattern increased dramatically in the last three decades, with the people concerned bringing their culture and behavioral practice with them. The culture of a society is the way of life of its members; the collection of ideas and habits which they learn, share, and transmit from generation to generation.

Given the current trend, if this imported way of life is not kept and preserved a generation of Africans/Caribbeans risk losing their identity, through the infusion of their culture with western society and behavior patterns.

Culture is a design for living held by members of a particular society. Culture has two essential qualities: firstly it is learned, secondly, it is shared. Without it there will be no human society. To a large degree culture determines how members of a society think and feel. it directs their actions and defines their outlook on life. Members of society usually take their culture for granted. It has become so much a part of them that they are often unaware of its existence.

ic2 was created to identify, preserve and promote African and other black cultures and way of life with a view to preservation.
The name "IDALE" meaning heritage reflects the ethos and principles behind the creation of ic2. Idale is a Yoruba word from southwest Nigeria, and widely spoken in West Africa.  We want people to be familiar with name places from West Africa, hence 'Idale'.
ic2 is an abbreviation of Idale Cultural Consortium. A consortium because we strive to work with others.
