Southwark Mysteries is a community arts organisation, offering creative ways for people to interact with their inner-city environment. Over the last decade the group has conducted historical walks, story-telling and drama workshops, and produced plays, festivals and site-specific events.
The Southwark Mysteries 2010
A new production of The Southwark Mysteries will be performed in Southwark Cathedral on April 22nd, 23rd, and 24th 2010. Directed by Sarah Davey, it will feature professional actors working with an adult community cast and three school groups. In the preceding week there will be free performances of scenes from the play at The Scoop, More London and at key Bankside locations.
In the months leading up to the performance a series of guided walks, workshops, performances and other events will enable to the community cast to be recruited and trained, and will build a sense of excitement and anticipation. By the time of the flagship production it is estimated that 1000 local residents and workers will have participated directly in a Southwark Mysteries event.
